Single-use plastic packaging, widely recognised as a significant source of pollution, is now firmly in the sights of European and French legislators, with an ambitious objective: a drastic reduction in its use by 2040. In 2026, nearly 30 years after the introduction of Extended Producer Responsibility for household packaging, a new EPR scheme for industrial and commercial packaging will come into force. It will introduce new obligations for producers and companies placing products on the market, encouraging the integration of eco-design, repair and reuse. Organised by the ALLFORPACK EMBALLAGE PARIS teams in collaboration with industry experts, this webinar provide all the key information needed to prepare for this major transition.

In addition to protecting the product and enabling its transport, packaging also had an essential purpose: to inform consumers in a transparent manner and in accordance with the law. With rising environmental expectations, it became imperative to ensure that environmental claims did not fall into the trap of greenwashing.

During this webinar, Bruno SIRI, General Delegate of the Conseil National de l'Emballage (CNE), Alexandre VERNIER, Packaging Impact Manager at the BEL Group, and Chantal de Lamotte, director of ALLFORPACK EMBALLAGE PARIS, discussed best practices for ensuring credible messaging while answering the following questions:

• What was the context surrounding environmental claims?
• How could packaging fulfil its role of informing consumers?
• What tools did the CNE offer to support businesses?

Faced with the need to reduce packaging waste and limit pressure on natural resources, reuse is emerging as a key lever for transition. Long confined to local or sectoral initiatives, it is now entering a new era: that of large-scale industrial structuring. This is the challenge of the shared reuse loop being rolled out in four pilot regions, spearheaded by Citeo.
