Baumer hhs, a global specialist in adhesive application and quality control systems, unveils Xmelt fusion, a new generation of melters designed to redefine standards of energy efficiency and ease of use. True to its philosophy of "Rethink. Renew. Recycle.‘ philosophy, the company focuses on sustainability and resource optimisation in industrial processes.
’We chose the name Xmelt fusion because it perfectly symbolises the union between efficiency and sustainability," explains Martin Kotecki, Business Development Manager for the Packaging segment at Baumer hhs. ‘These melters combine ease of use, performance, reliability and quality – values that have earned our equipment a worldwide reputation.’
The Xmelt fusion features a redesigned hot melt adhesive reservoir and state-of-the-art electronics. The goal: to achieve maximum melt rate while reducing volume, energy consumption and maintenance requirements. Mission accomplished: the new model achieves a melting rate of up to 14 kg of adhesive per hour with a power consumption of only 1.6 kW. This exceptional ratio significantly reduces operating costs while improving the carbon footprint of production lines.
Compact and versatile, the Basic model alone covers around 90% of packaging applications, demonstrating that a smaller format can offer full industrial productivity.
The Basic model can be combined with the Xfeed system, ensuring a continuous supply of adhesive granules. This device melts the required amount on demand, thus avoiding waste and ensuring smooth operation of the lines. For more specific needs, a Special Volume model completes the range. It allows non-transportable adhesives to be stored directly in the tank area, limiting manual handling and increasing operator safety. By streamlining its range, Baumer hhs facilitates the integration of melters into packaging machines and offers a flexible and universal solution for manufacturers.
A simplified user experience
Modern production requirements call for ergonomic, connected and intuitive equipment. Xmelt fusion meets these expectations with a completely redesigned human-machine interface (HMI), inspired by the brand's Xtend3 controllers. Available with an integrated 3.5-inch screen or an external 7-inch screen, the system offers great installation freedom and optimal readability.
The interface includes an energy optimisation module and a real-time adhesive consumption indicator. This allows operators to view performance, adjust settings and identify opportunities for energy and material savings.
Proactive maintenance and easy access
The maintenance of the Xmelt fusion has also been redesigned. All components requiring regular maintenance are now accessible at the front of the machine: filters, valves and drain points. Replacing wear parts is simplified, significantly reducing downtime.
Another major new feature is that the system automatically sends preventive notifications when maintenance is required, whether it is a filter change or cleaning. ‘Xmelt fusion melters proactively notify you of tasks to be performed and provide specific data on energy and adhesive consumption,’ says Kotecki. "This information allows you to optimise processes and plan maintenance efficiently. "
The digital functions, already present on Xtend3 controllers, also allow working parameters to be recorded and managed for quick and standardised production changes.
Durability remains a key value for Baumer hhs. The metal housing of the Xmelt fusion ensures optimal protection while contributing to the longevity of the device. The design combines aesthetics and functionality, reinforcing both the strength and modernity of the product. Each unit can be configured with six or eight outputs for application heads, depending on requirements. Reinforced insulation improves operator safety by reducing surface temperature while minimising energy loss. Combined with automatic energy-saving functions, it further enhances the overall energy efficiency of the system.
With Xmelt fusion, Baumer hhs is not just offering new equipment: the company is introducing a scalable platform designed to support future advances in adhesive technologies. For packaging manufacturers and system integrators, this new generation represents a reliable, efficient and environmentally friendly solution. At a time when energy efficiency and sustainability have become industrial priorities, Xmelt fusion embodies the convergence of technological innovation and environmental responsibility.
